Windows Mobile Users Can Now Access Videos & PDF Files

Microsoft Corp. has given license to Adobe Flash Lite and Reader Software for integration on Windows Mobiles to view video and PDF files.

According to Adobe Systems Incorporated, Microsoft has given license to Adobe Flash Lite Software. It is specifically designed to facilitate users with a solution that allows browsing content, which needs Flash Player to run on mobile phones. It will be integrated in the coming versions of Windows Mobile phones of Microsoft.

Besides, Microsoft has also given license to Adobe Reader LE software for integration in mobile devices. It is used to view PDF files of Adobe, including web content and e-mails. Now OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), who give license to Window Mobile Software, can use both the software for development of new applications.

The announcement is symbolic because Windows Mobile phones can run Silverlight and Flash. Silverlight is Microsoft own fledging solution that empowers developers to create multimedia applications to run on mobile phones.

The Flash Lite 3.x browser connects IE Mobile to Windows Mobile and allows users to view interactive web content developed on Adobe Flash technology. Today, Adobe Flash is the most popular and sought-after application on the Internet enriching numerous websites, apps and animation.

On the other hand, Adobe Reader LE facilitates Internet users to view and navigate content available in the PDF format along with the innovative features designed to improve the readability of the content on small screens.

With rising usage of smartphones, people who have been using basic browsing services are now fed up with it and want something new on their phones. They are searching for the same kind of browsing experience which they get on their PC. However, it is quite difficult to offer such variable content on devices, which have small screen, slow processing power, small battery and less memory.

Al Ramadan, Senior Vice President of Mobile and Device Department, Adobe, said that Flash Player changed the world of web browsing and now license by Microsoft for integrating it in Windows Mobile phone will give a new experience to mobile users, as reported by Businesswire on March 17, 2008.

Flash Lite will be delivered to major device manufacturers globally. It runs on multiple platforms like Qualcomm BREW, Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 and other OEM platforms.
