Boom in Mobile Messaging Revenues

ABI Research predicts that global mobile messaging revenues will reach $212 Billion by 2013 as people are using messaging services for communication and for passing on the information.

According to ABI Research's forecast, the mobile messaging services are expected to generate revenues worth $212 Billion by 2013 as it is growing rapidly all over the world.

Mobile messaging is broadly categorized under five categories such as Short Message Service (SMS), voice mail, e-mail/unified messaging, Instant Messaging (IM) and Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS), says the research firm. The integration between fixed and mobile networks and new access and input capabilities will lead to a strong growth in mobile messaging.

ABI Research also reveals that there is tremendous growth in mobile messaging all over the world. Most of the people in North and South America are using SMS facility whereas residents of developed regions are using mobile e-mail facilities frequently. Due to increase in online social networks, more and more people are utilizing mobile messaging across the globe. Even the Asia-Pacific countries are adopting cell phone messaging services on a big scale.

Apart from different messaging requirements of different regions, a tremendous growth in use of messaging services can be witnessed as it provides cost-effective, timely, customer-specific information and communication capability.

According to the news published on March 21, 2008 by BUSINESS WIRE, Dan Shey, Principal Analyst, said that all over the world, people are using mobile messaging to communicate and pass on information. The wide range of messaging services and its cost-effectiveness makes it suitable for all the regions despite their social and economic disparities, resulting in the growth of messaging revenues in coming five years.

However, the factors fuelling growth in messaging are not just the obvious social convenience, and economic reasons.

Shey further added that the innovations of new features in messaging like voice-to-text, advanced keyboard designs, and touchscreens have made it easier to use. The mobile messaging providers are able to serve both the business and consumer domains effectively by combining input options with easy communication across fixed and mobile platforms.

Moreover, mobile messaging can be increased if mobile advertisers work properly. Shey said that many companies are working on mobile advertising effectively and as a result, will change the messaging market completely.
